  • Fashion Fusion IX: Arts of Asia: Fashion Fusion VIII: Arts of Asia features garments from Fashion Fusion, an annual competition presented by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (MFAH), and the award-winning Fashion Design program at Houston Community College (HCC). This most recent competition required HCC students and alumni to design original outfits inspired by the MFAH collections of Chinese, Indian, Japanese, and Korean art. The garments created by HCC's emerging designers were entered into one of four representative categories: Sustainable & Unconventional, Street & Sportswear, Evening & Cocktail Wear, and Avant-Garde & Conceptual. This exhibition features the winning garments from designers Maria Dyevre, Estefania Espindola, Maria Hammond, Emily Herrera, Kuteka Hill, Bailey Reber, and Jennifer Valencia.

    NG - Rose-Rich: This is the EVERYDAY BAG Cornelia will be helping us make at our next meeting.  The pattern will cost $2.50, If you choose to make this, please let Loretta know as she will be ordering the pattern for you. You will be able to pay her when you come to the meeting.  Also, remember to bring your Sew n' Tells. We get inspiration from your projects. (Unfortunately I will not be there due to knee replacement surgery.) Karen Wookey This is from Cornelia: You will need: 1 yard of fabric for bag, handles and pocket 1 yard fusible interfacing 1/2 yard of fusible batting 1/3 yard extra firm stabilizer such as Pelon 987 F Basic sewing supplies and a walking foot for your sewing machine if you have one. ( I don't think I actually used one!) From bag fabric Cut: 1 rectangle 21" x 36" for the body of the bag 2 rectangles 4 1/2" x 25" for the handles 1 rectangle 6 1/2" x 12" for exterior pocket From  fusible fleece batting cut: 1 rectangle 11 x 20" 2 rectangles a scant 2 x 24" 1 rectangle 6" x 6 1/2 " Go ahead and fuse the 1/2 yard of interfacing to the Bag fabric and the 2 1/2 by 24" fusible batting down the center of the handles. This will be a good place to start when we get set up. This most recent competition required HCC students and alumni to design original outfits inspired by the MFAH collections of Chinese, Indian, Japanese, and Korean art. You will be able to pay her when you come to the meeting.  Also, remember to bring your Sew n' Tells. We get inspiration from your projects. (Unfortunately I will not be there due to knee replacement surgery.) Karen Wookey This is from Cornelia: You will need: 1 yard of fabric for bag, handles and pocket 1 yard fusible interfacing 1/2 yard of fusible batting 1/3 yard extra firm stabilizer such as Pelon 987 F Basic sewing supplies and a walking foot for your sewing machine if you have one. ( I don't think I actually used one!) From bag fabric Cut: 1 rectangle 21" x 36" for the body of the bag 2 rectangles 4 1/2" x 25" for the handles 1 rectangle 6 1/2" x 12" for exterior pocket From  fusible fleece batting cut: 1 rectangle 11 x 20" 2 rectangles a scant 2 x 24" 1 rectangle 6" x 6 1/2 " Go ahead and fuse the 1/2 yard of interfacing to the Bag fabric and the 2 1/2 by 24" fusible batting down the center of the handles. This will be a good place to start when we get set up.   • Fashion Fusion IX: Arts of Asia: Fashion Fusion VIII: Arts of Asia features garments from Fashion Fusion, an annual competition presented by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (MFAH), and the award-winning Fashion Design program at Houston Community College (HCC). This most recent competition required HCC students and alumni to design original outfits inspired by the MFAH collections of Chinese, Indian, Japanese, and Korean art. The garments created by HCC's emerging designers were entered into one of four representative categories: Sustainable & Unconventional, Street & Sportswear, Evening & Cocktail Wear, and Avant-Garde & Conceptual. This exhibition features the winning garments from designers Maria Dyevre, Estefania Espindola, Maria Hammond, Emily Herrera, Kuteka Hill, Bailey Reber, and Jennifer Valencia.
