Scrap challenge

It’s hard to believe it’s June!  If you haven’t begun working on the scrap challenge, you still have time!   I’ve been bad so far, and haven’t made many items with scraps.  I made a few dog beds for shelters (the contents do not count because there are like a million scraps), and focused on some other projects like baby quilts and some garments.  However, there are a few things I would like to share and hopefully, inspire you to share what you have done do date.

My hubby picked an alien fabric at a quilter’s destash sale for a shirt, which I made. I had just enough left for a front panel of the Mav Pack byLinds to make him a sling bag.  I used one piece of scrap fabric.

Last summer, I made my first ByAnnie ultimate travel bag. It was amazing!  A the end, there are some small pieces of quilted fabric left, so I made a small ByAnnie pouch and a coin purse (self-drafted) to go with the large bag, which was a retirement gift to a friend.  The coin purse used one scrap, and the case used two different scraps (the quilted material and some blue scraps for the interior.  I also included a picture of the large bag (it doesn’t count).

My third scrap item was a handbag.  This bag was a going away gift to one of the best doctors I have ever had.  The maroon and yellow fabric scraps were from a Chapter stash sale long ago that just needed the right project. I have been staring at the blue medallion fabric a long time but it is yardage and doesn’t count as a scrap.  It became this really cool bag with 8 separate pockets.  Best of all, the pattern was free!!!  I used two different scrap types (red and yellow) on this bag.

My fourth scrap project was a three pocket pouch.  This was a challenging pattern (free of course).  But it was a learning process. I made a quilt for my mother in-law in 2025, and I had some really cool fabric left. My hubby wanted a pillowcase, and I ran across some chicken fabric for his pillowcase, so I had a little left, and took parts of my scraps to create this gem.  The chicken/rooster “heart” is a little slip pocket. I used three scrap types on this pouch.

I am way behind, but my scrap count is nine so far. What is your scrap count? Do you have any pics of the scrap challenge you would like to share?

I thought I would throw in the alien shirt to share a smile. My hubby gets all kinds of compliments about his sling bag.

Happy scrapping, ASG Houston!
