Hello Members,
I’m excited to be your new ASG Houton chapter president for 2024. I joined our chapter 7 years ago with my first focus being mini retreats under the direction of Margarita Johnston. Community sewing is my favorite chapter activity. I have been focusing on helping members to engage in ASG activities by building out the website. I hope the members are using the site to stay informed of upcoming events and ongoing Neighborhood Group (NG) programs. We currently have 171 members which is down from a pre-pandemic count of 247. I would very much like to see our numbers climb. A city as large and diverse as Houston has many potential members with the ASG Houston chapter offering friendships, instruction, challenges and motivations concerning all things sewing.
The CAB is hard at work planning exciting events in 2024. Marilyn Fireman is the First Vice-President, Dianne O’Dell is the Second Vice-President and Event Coordinator. Michelle Gafford is the Secretary and Rosemary Mathalone is our Treasurer. Debbie Jackson will be handling the very important job of Newsletter Editor and Assistant Webmaster and Hilda Myers will be Assistant Neighborhood Groop Coordinator. As member at large, Sandra Joiner fills the very important job of keeping the CAB straight. Her advice and knowledge are invaluable.
Watch for updates in the monthly eblast and remember that you can attend any and all NG meetings in our chapter. 2024 is going to be a very active year. Here’s hoping to see all of you soon.
