ASG Houston Chapter

Blog form timing out ….

It is important that the ASG Houston website be user friendly, but it has come to my attention (as webmaster) that users are having difficulty successfully submitting posts when files are attached.  It is important to have images connected to our posts in order to capture the interest of the site visitors.   I have reviewed the blog form function and have made adjustments and added notes to the blog form that will hopefully help blog editors successfully submit images to their posts.  I apologize for all inconveniences and frustration experienced.  The changes should result in more postings and more happy blog editors!   Please try again and comment to this post with your experiences.

Clarification for blog editors –

The current issue is that when the upload of files takes more than two minutes, the blog processing fails.  The recaptcha function causes the timeout which actually is a good thing because the user is not stuck processing for a long time.  For example, I uploaded large files with no recaptcha function and it ran for over 10 minutes before accepting the post.

So, I have added file size restriction notes on the blog pages.  I currently have the blog forms limited to 11 picture or documents (.pdf).  The accepted formats are:  .pdf, .jpg, jpeg, .png, .gif

I managed to upload 11 files within the two-minute time frame if all pictures were limited to 1000 pixels.  User should resize all images to size 1000 pixels as shown below.  The reduction in file size is listed.
